Session III

Today, Elizabeth started off with functions in Excel. She had Ivan, Noah, and Thor come up to demonstrate the functions "Sum," "Average," and "Count." Though they successfully demonstrated these functions, the class did not succeed in counting letters or finding "Count A."

As Elizabeth was teaching her lesson, Tenzin, Eddie, and Leija were looking at Tenzin's computer and giggling. Though Cristina walked by Tenzin, she noticed that they weren't doing anything to the computer and an image was just up... What she didn't know was that he had intertwined the mice and was using his mouse on his lap as the other one sat on the table! How sneaky...

After going through all of the functions, Cristina introduced herself, and continued the lesson with "Excel Automation." Cristina taught her lesson rather quickly because she thought that the students had a version of their own... So, after going through the WHOLE lesson, she remembered that the students didn't have their own version, and the two instructors saved it onto the Excel unit for the students. They opened up the document and played around with Sort and Filter. They finally knew what Cristina was talking about.

Next came the break where Eddie's train of thought led us to rediscover our inner child by watching the "Arthur" and "Magic School Bus" theme songs.

During work time, the students agreed on playing "Forever" by Drake. The boys were having a "heated discussion" about why the song was written and whatnot. Since the song had a couple of swear words, it was immediately changed and "clean" songs are now the only thing to be played in Elizabeth and Cristina's lab.

The group eventually came together to agree on songs and the rest of work time went by smoothly.

When break started and the students (once again) found out that they couldn't use the computers, they were devastated but eventually found a new leisure activity! They were hacky-sacking (don't really know what it's called...) and having a blast.
